gap personnel is celebrating a hat-trick after its employees voted it one of the best companies in the UK for the third year in succession.
It has secured a half page spotlight in the annual national handbook which lists Britain’s top companies based on information supplied by workers.
The independently produced guide is published yearly by Best Companies Accreditation, the same organisation which compiles the prestigious Sunday Times list of the top 100 best companies to work for in the UK.
Recruitment specialists, gap personnel, has made it into the 2010 guide, listed alongside nationwide giants such as Sainsbury’s, BMW and British Gas. They are all featured in the category of key companies to watch in the year ahead. For gap, the success follows on from its earning a first class one star rating in the guide in 2008 and 2009.
gap personnel managing director, Gary Dewhurst, is delighted: “This is a real coup, especially when you take into account the economic difficulties British firms have had to face over the last year. It is great news for our company and a tribute to the efforts of every member of our team. Our success is down to them, their sheer hard work, dedication and loyalty.”
Inclusion in the guide is based on confidential feedback to a questionnaire supplied the employees of every firm up for consideration. Questions ask employees to assess how a company approaches key areas which affect their working life, including employee benefits, career development, personal growth and work-life balance.
gap personnel scored particularly highly in the personal growth category, looking at whether employees feel challenged by their job, whether their skills are being put to the best use and the perceived opportunities for advancement. More than 75 per cent of gap personnel workers’ replies to the survey felt the company had an extremely positive approach to the personal growth of its staff.
The listing in the best companies handbook – which can also be found online at
www.bestcompanies.co.uk – is the second achievement so far this year to recognise gap personnel’s commendable approach to employee relations. It has also recently been awarded an Employers’ Badge, from the National Apprenticeship Service in recognition of its support for apprenticeship schemes in Britain.
Headquartered in Wrexham, gap personnel has grown to achieve a £50m brand turnover and it operates its services through a network of 30 branches throughout the UK in locations ranging from Glasgow to Newton Abbot, Devon.
Last November, the company was ranked ninth in the industrial sector in the Recruitment International Awards, which recognise the best 250 recruitment companies in the UK.
Within the last year it moved to from its base in Johnstown to newly-built premises at Unit 2, Yale Business Village, Wrexham Technology Park, Wrexham, which better accommodate the growing administrative and management operations of the firm.
