gap personnel support Reds 150th anniversary year with banger rally sponsorship
gap personnel has joined forces with 10 other local companies to support Wrexham FC mark its 150th anniversary year by sponsoring a classic VW Beetle the club has entered in The Cosmopolitan Classic – a banger race running from Friday, August 22 to Sunday August 24.
The intrepid team of four, made up of Wrexham FC Legend Mickey Thomas, the club’s commercial manager Steve Cook and fans Mike Cooper and Michael Bradshaw are hoping the car, worth no more than £250, will get them through Rouen, Le Mans, Paris, Alps, Val D’Isere and Monte Carlo before finishing in Nice!
Thomas said:” Although it’s a long way, I am sure it will be really good fun for us all taking part – more importantly it’s great for the club. Not only will we be raising the profile of the club in its 150th year, but we’ll be raising much needed funds for the club too”.
Steve Cook added: “We would like to thank our sponsors for their generosity and support – they have been absolutely fantastic”.
The team’s exploits will be filmed and reported back on a daily basis via The Wrexham Leader.
Upon its return, the vehicle will then be used throughout the anniversary year to showcase the clubs new kit and raise awareness of the club throughout the region.
