gap on track to support Wrexham Games 2014
gap personnel is supporting the Wrexham Games 2014, being hosted by Wrexham Amateur Athletic Club, at the Queensway Stadium, Wrexham, this Saturday, August 23rd, as part of the club’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
For over 60 years, Wrexham Amateur Athletic Club has provided a service to the community by encouraging people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the sport of athletics.
The track and field events start at 11am and will include track, sprint hurdles, long jump, high jump, pole vault, shot put, discus, javelin and hammer plus a special one hour decathlon.
Also taking part on the day will be the Wrexham Special Olympics team.
gap personnel has a strong affiliation with the club and a personal interest in the games, as marketing executive Nik Mesney and Sam Dewhurst, son of CEO Gary Dewhurst are members.
Sam competes regularly for Wrexham in cross country events and trains at the track twice a week.
Nik said: “I used to be regularly involved at the club and am still club record holder for the 100m, 200m and 4x100m. I’ve not done anything for the past couple of years, since having my little boy, Jacob, but have recently been down to the track to take him for his first few training sessions!”
