Marlena's ready to rumble
Sunday, 5th July will see Marlena Kostecka of gap personnel's Flint branch don her boxing gloves, headguard and gumshield as she takes part in the Ultra White Collar Boxing event being held at Chester Racecourse.
White Collar Boxing originated in New York in 1988 with the first contest being between an attorney and a Phd in English Literature. All of the participants train together for eight weeks, to ensure that the bouts are fairly matched - at the end of the training, the competitors will take part in three, two minute rounds at Chester Racecourse.
It will be a slightly different day for 30-year-old Marlena, who is usually filling vacancies, inducting staff and conducting interviews in her day-to-day role at gap personnel's Flint branch. Marlena is looking forward to the event, commenting;
"I can't wait for the fight now that the training has started. I love the training - the atmosphere in the gym is great and I'm really looking forward to it. The only thing that might hamper my training is the all-inclusive holiday I'm going on a week before the fight!"
Marlena is taking part in the event to raise money for Cancer Research UK, and is aiming to raise £300 - you can make a donation at Marlena's JustGiving page by visiting https://www.justgiving.com/Marlena-Kostecka/
