Gary Richards to take on London marathon challenge
24th April marks the date for the 2016 Virgin Money London Marathon, and this year will see gap personnel's North Wales Regional Director, Gary Richards taking part in the event.
This will be Gary's first full marathon – a challenge he could not turn down after Managing Director, Mark Roberts laid down the gauntlet. Mark has ran the marathon for the last two years, and is looking to set a new personal best this year.
Gary has chosen to run the event in aid of Victa, a charity who provides support for children and young people who are blind or partially sighted and their families.
To date Gary has already raised £600 towards the £1350 total target, and is therefore asking for any support you may be able to offer.
Over the last two years, employees of gap personnel have supported Mark generously, and this year he has asked that anyone looking to make a pledge does so in support of Gary's first marathon challenge.
Ahead of the challenge, Gary said "gap personnel are a company that has always used sports to promote and raise the profiles of charities in the UK and are heavily involved in sport in the community. I chose VICTA as a charity to raise money for because of the impact it can have in the lives of children in the UK. The Charity organises activities designed to improve the emotional, social and living skills of the children and young people. Bringing children and young people who are blind or partially sighted together to socialise, have fun and travel whether in the UK or abroad helps them to realise just what they can achieve. Every child deserves the opportunity to enjoy their childhood and the money we are raising will go some way to helping these children do just that."
