gap temps to Compete In RTITB World Championship Finals
We are pleased to announce that Ian John (44) and Leighton Hughes (37), who have been working for our Newport branch for little over one year and five years respectively as Counterbalance Forklift Drivers at one of our South Wales based manufacturing clients, have made it into the Top 40 RTITB World Championship Final for Forklift Driver of the Year 2016.
After completing an online theory test against more than 500 other competitors, they were in the top 40 scorers and will now move on to the practical assessment in front of a Live audience at the IMHX Exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham. After this the top ten will be chosen to go to the grand final in Telford later on this year with a glamorous awards ceremony at the end of the year.
“Operators of all ages and from all over the world applied to take part and we even had entries from winners of other forklift driver competitions,” says Laura Nelson, Managing Director at RTITB, the preferred workplace transport training regulatory body. “The International Forklift Operator of the Year award is about recognizing the best of the best and showing supply chain professionals that skilled, safe, efficient forklift operators can make a huge difference to productivity and profitability within their company.”
Regional Director Richard Thorne added;
“This is great news for the Ian and Leighton - they have worked for us since the start of the contract in April 2015 and this is a great achievement to make it this far. Their work ethic and quality of work is always top level and we are proud to have them amongst our ranks. Our client are also very proud that our workers have outperformed all other FLT drivers. I look forward to updating after the next stage!”
