Our client, who is based on the outskirts of Southend, Essex, have been in the manufacturing industry for over 35 years and are now the UKs leading manufacturer and distributor of their products and they are recruiting an experienced Electro-Mechanical Engineer with excellent diagnostic/fault-finding ability.
This role will be supplying the production lines with breakdown cover whilst maximising production and ensuring that safe working practices and HSE requirements are met.
This is a varied and busy role. Duties are wide ranging, and the main object is to ensure that production equipment is safely and efficiently maintained. This position is the only Engineer whilst on nightshift, so a wide range of skills and the ability to solve problems is essential. A strict adherence to HSE and Company guidelines in all aspects of the duties is mandatory.
Experience and Skills Required for the Electro-Mechanical Engineer include:
Essential - all candidates must demonstrate:
• A recognised relevant electrical qualification
• Excellent faultfinding/diagnostic skills in Electrical and mechanical applications
• Background in manufacturing environment
• Experience of a minimum 5 years
• Experience with:
o3 x phase controls/installations
oMotor drives/inverters etc
oRelay logic and integrated medium voltage control systems
oPneumatic and hydraulic circuits on a machine tool level
• Flexibility in mechanical repair to rotating machinery/pumps/gearboxes etc.
• Some knowledge of small industrial package boilers and rotary air compressors
Desirable - Familiarity with the following would be a distinct advantage:
• Flowrap packaging machines
• C N C controlled band knifes
• Auto feed beam presses
• Non-woven carding line
Shifts will consist of Sunday to Thursday Night 10pm to 7am with Days 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 5pm Fridays. The rota is currently on a fortnightly turn around. Some overtime and shift changes may be required to suit production needs and scheduled shutdowns.
There will be an initial introductory period worked on days alongside day shift engineers before progressing onto nights; where, thereafter, there will be a probationary period of 6 months and a training plan appropriate to the candidate's abilities.
