Research Technician

gap professional has an exciting opportunity for a proactive and highly motivated Research Technician to join a growing and innovative business based local to Norwich, Norfolk. You will be required to work within the Laboratory team, assisting with laboratory, glasshouse and field trials and conduct experiments on all aspects of crop protection research. The working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, however you must be flexible due to the nature of the role.

Duties of the Research Technician:

• Provide and manage the diagnostics services e.g. qPCR and ELISA
• Assist with the management of the Plant Clinic by coordinating, referencing and responding to plant clinic samples
• Identify pests, diseases and weeds of the product
• Assist with the culture of pests and diseases and provide, develop and manage inoculation materials for trials
• Assist with the maintenance of plants in the glasshouse
• Assist with practical demonstrations as required
• Assist with trial assessments
• Maintain laboratory stocks/equipment
• Provide support at company events as and when required
• Assist with preparing final reports

Experience required for the Research Technician:

• A relevant degree in biology or plant science is required
• Experience with diagnostic methods would be beneficial
• You must be reliable and possess good attention to detail
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment to tight deadlines would be desirable
• A confident communicator who has proven ability to deliver within a team
• Due to the requirements of the role and the location based in Norwich, Norfolk, you will need your own transport
