We’re recruiting for a qualified and experienced Accountant, to work within a manufacturing company based in Runcorn.


PAY: £35k based on experience.

WORKING HOURS: Monday to Friday 08:00-17:45


Initially temp cover but could lead to perm position.


1.   Main Job Purpose (one statement explaining the job’s overall purpose):


To prepare reports and reconciliations for the monthly and weekly accounts, and to provide Commercial and Operations financial support across the business.

Performance Indicators

(standards / measures that show the tasks are being achieved)


Preparation of monthly management accounts.  Journal preparation and balance sheet reconciliation.


Timely submission in accordance with group deadlines.



To provide weekly P&L flash reporting, sales analysis and GSS administration.



Timely submission to UK Senior Management


Assist in the preparation of year end Financial accounts, tax and audit packs In line with accounting standards and legislative requirements



Timely submission and in accordance with Financial Reporting Standards.


Annual budget preparation


Timely completion in accordance with group deadlines.



Provide budget variance analysis to cost centre owners, develop cost mitigation plans with budget holders to offset adverse variances


Adherence to budget


Provide realistic product costings for new business opportunities / tenders / recipe engineering


Net margin realisation that reflect initial costings


Drive price management program during periods of material/ingredient inflation


Ensure margins are maintained or optimised.


Look for cost saving opportunities and drive improvement programs collaborating with budget holders to deliver results


Demonstrate favourable budget variance as a result of the initiative.


Cross functional support within the Finance Department to cover absence




Smooth running of the Finance Department

  • Knowledge and understanding of MTMS and how to extract data
  • Advanced excel skills for data extraction and analysis
  • New business costings for wide range of customers across two business sectors (Retail / Foodservice)
  • Identifying / creating new data sources to establish improvement metrics or trends


Managing Change (describe the quality of innovation required / describe any new activities which have been or need to be initiated)


  • Look at improved ways of working and adapt to needs of other people within the organization
  • Developing new management information tools / reports in line with business requirements

Systems:     MTMS, Excel, Powerpoint, GSS, tableaux, EWB




4.   Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:


  • CIMA
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Continuous improvement skills / lean management techniques
  • Good communication skills
  • Product costing experience
  • FMCG experience
  • SAP advantageous but not essential
