On behalf of a rapidly-expanding, global organisation we are seeking a highly-motivated, flexible & resourceful Depot Manager to take the lead in running a busy, specialist recycling depot. 

The ideal candidate for this position will be a pro-active, hands-on Operational Manager, who is a strategic-thinker, but equally leads by example and is adept at coaching and motivating a team to excel. 

You will be at home in an industrial environment, with the ideal candidate coming from an Aggregate, Construction or Heavy Industry. 
Typically a 45-hour, Monday – Friday working week with alternate Saturday mornings, applicants should have a flexible approach to working hours and UK travel. 

It is envisaged that the initial months of this position will involve investing some additional hours (including some Saturdays) in pursuit of engaging across all areas and fully understanding the remit of the position and the opportunities for improvement. 
As you settle into the position, this should abate, and the role will return to standard hours.

The role: 
As a depot manager you will be responsible for the overall running of the depot. You will assist in the effective control of the operation, through the proactive management of the team 

Key responsibilities include:

P&L Management & forecasting
QHSE Management & auditing (with support of regional HSE team)
Stock control
Providing strong visible leadership
Ensuring that all operational employees have the relevant qualifications and training
Promoting collaboration & communicating across all departments and depots, actively involving the workforce though regular meetings/updates/toolbox talks
Understanding & implementing HR procedures, being highly involved in recruitment and disciplinary processes
Working with the internal transport department and provide management support when located outside the main transport hub
Communicating with regulatory bodies such as local police, Environmental Agency, HSE and HMRC

Skills, Experience & Qualifications sought:

Progressive experience in a relevant sector (Recycling, Aggregate, Construction or Heavy Industry)
Good levels of experience in a Site/Depot/Operational Management role that includes P&L Management
Flexible and able to work in line with the demands of the organisation
Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Full UK driving licence (UK travel likely to be required)
Management qualification
IOSH or NEBOSH qualification
Ability to use initiative and quick thinking with any problems arising
Highly tolerant of change, being able to work within an evolving organisation
High degree of independence – resourceful & entrepreneurial
Genuine and effective team player
