Facilities / Building Manager – 2 month Fixed Term Contract

Location: Newport 
Hours: 8.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday 
Salary: £28,000

The Building Manager will be responsible for managing the building operations to support the client at its main offices. The role has responsibility for effective delivery of operational FM building related services as well as supporting commercial activities; ensuring that the building provides the most suitable working environment for its occupants and their activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure the safety of the building’s occupants and visitors
Oversee the security system and fire prevention systems and ensuring that they remain operational (and that fire and other evacuations are carried out on a regular basis)
Support the delivery and monitoring of contracts for soft FM services including security, parking, cleaning, catering
Line Manage staff including Building Administrator / reception / front of house
Manage reception arrangements and ensure effective customer service
Ensure that basic facilities such as water and heating are working (including of the BMS control system and ensuring energy efficiency)
Comply with appropriate governance for any expenditures required
Allocate and manage space in the buildings referred to above (and proactively secure room hire and manage bookings)
Inspect the building frequently for signs of damage or wear and coordinate reactive maintenance works
Monitoring FM works on site including the liaison with service providers and contractors
Oversee and review the works carried out by contractors to ensure that the required standards are achieved
Manage the supply, distribution and maintenance of building access keys/ access cards
Support the production of business continuity plans and their execution
Compile and maintain required management information and records relating to the site
Develop regular supplier dialogue in order to maintain the best possible service
Ensure that all appropriate training, site and plant equipment familiarisation is carried out before handover and arrangements are in place to ensure that they are carried out throughout the contract
Check that the buildings are cleaned to the agreed specification
