Gap professional are operating as an employment agency on behalf of its client, a reputable based company who are looking for a Health and Safety Manager

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 8am – 4.30pm (Flexible)
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000
To be proactive in their approach to providing effective Health and Safety guidance and support to the Site Director, Management team and to site operatives to ensure all employees are working in a safe environment. To develop and maintain standards in line with the requirements of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management standard and to take the lead with all external ISO 14001 audits.
To maintain and further enhance the existing health and safety management system that covers the requirements of HSG65 2013 of: Plan, Do, Check, Act.
Annual review of the Health and Safety policy
Developing a site health and safety action plan that covers, the site accident and ill health history, risk management and annual reviews, enhancing the current safe systems of working and annual reviews of these safe systems, reviews of the chemical risk management throughout the site.
Statutory inspection and monitoring to ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation.
Measuring performance via good inspection and monitoring and also learning from accidents.
Carrying out internal audits/inspections against the company health and safety policy and reviewing our activities to check that we have achieved our plan, and we do what we say we do.
Ensure all personnel receive effective and relevant safety induction training and annual safety refresher training.
To manage the security contract for the site and liaise with security contractor and their security guards.
Providing accurate monthly accident reports and analysis to the Group Compliance Manager, Site Director, Operations Manager and the Site Management team and site operatives.
Carrying out weekly recorded safety inspections of the factory site.
Carrying out monthly recorded health and safety policy compliance audits of all depts.
Carrying out bimonthly health and safety committee meetings (6 per year) and providing comprehensive meeting minutes.
Carrying out an annual review of the site activities against the health and safety action plan to ensure we have met the objectives of this plan.
Maintain a great relationship with the site operations personnel.
Qualifications and Knowledge
A relevant professional qualification e.g. NEBOSH Certificate
Be a Technician Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and or be an Associate Member of the international Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM)
To participate in Continuous Professional Development programmes either with IOSH or IIRSM
Skills & Experience
Experience within Health and Safety type job role
Confidence with dealing with external parties such as the Health and Safety Executive, Fire and Rescue Service, Property Conversation Insurers and Employee Liability Insurers
Good organisational and communications skills.
Well presented with good time keeping
Full Driving License and a willingness to travel to other sites.
