Gap Personnel, operating as an employment business, are currently looking to recruit a Industrial Cleaner for one of the world’s largest metal recycling companies based in Oldbury.

 

Working hours

Monday-Friday

6:00 – 16:30

Pay

£9.50 - £10 p/h

 

Job Purpose

Working as a key member of the operations team, the post holder will operate manual and mobile equipment (once trained) in all areas of the plant to clean and maintain housekeeping standards in line with set plans and schedules or areas where tasks are allocated by your Team Leader or Operations Supervisor. Working to current safe working procedures and work instructions. Ensuring compliance in all areas, whilst promoting a safe working environment ensuring both your own health and safety and your colleagues is seen as paramount.

 

Job Duties:

  • To take responsibility for their own and others safety through safe working practices
  • To participate positively in housekeeping improvement initiatives
  • Maintain good standards of housekeeping and plant hygiene
  • Authorised to stop plant machinery in circumstances where safety is at risk ort he damage to plant is at risk
  • To buddy new employees to share knowledge of the job and plant
  • Maintain excellent timekeeping and attendance
  • To operate Mobile Plant if trained and is seen as needed for your duties
  • To work in a safe and appropriate manner conforming to EMR health and safety policy
  • Report any defects to the Team Leader
  • To ensure effective handover of area between shifts
  • To constructively participate in toolbox talks
  • Ensure good housekeeping standards are met and correct PPE is worn at all times
  • Ensure isolation of all plant prior to starting relevant work by applying personal and controlled padlocks
  • Assessment of the job holder’s performance will be way of the weekly housekeeping audits of the plant

 

Experience/Qualifications/Skills

  • Previous experience of factory work physically demanding environments
  • Previous experience of operating mobile plant and machinery
  • Able to work flexibly across shift patterns to cover colleagues when needed
  • The list is my no means exhaustive, and the job holder should be aware that they will be expected to comply with and “Reasonable Request” when asked.
