Gap Personnel, operating as an employment business, are currently looking to recruit a Laboratory Technician for one of the world’s largest metal recycling companies based in Oldbury.

 

Working hours

Monday-Friday

8:00-17:00

Pay

£9.80 p/h

 

Job Duties:

  • Aware of the Hazards within the laboratory and following all Laboratory Health and safety procedures
  • Follow all plant Health and Safety procedures on the site, when collecting samples in production areas
  • Report any issues with regard to Health and Safety to management
  • Have a sound of knowledgeable understanding of data management, being able to collate data and produce clear and concise reports
  • Have a good understanding of materials properties, specifically plastics, metals and minerals
  • Working as part of a team of Laboratory Technicians, carrying out routine analytical testing to support plant operations this includes both products produced by the separation process and also analysis of materials by hand sorting
  • Analysing daily samples of indeed and outputs from the process to determinate composition of materials by hand sorting
  • Using Sieves to determinate sizing of the of the materials
  • Determinate target plastic concentrations by density measurement
  • Analytical testing will also cover
  • XRF to determine metal concentrations
  • FTIR, to determine plastic types
  • Carrying out in – process sampling to measure process performance and develop improvements to the process
  • Sampling water treatment process to ensure safety controls are working correctly
  • Supporting other departments within the scope of the business e.g. Process management, engineering and production
  • Producing daily sample reports and maintain records of all samples analysed

Experience/Qualifications/Skills

  • Previous experience of factory laboratory Technician work
  • Able to work flexibly across shift patterns
