gap professional are operating as an employment agency on behalf of its client who are looking for a Maintenance/Mechanical Engineers 

Job Type: Permanent
Location: Hereford
Hours of work: 3 shifts available


Shift 1: Continental Shift Rota: Week: 1 = 5 x 12hr (Mon, Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun), Week 2= 2 x 12hr (Tues, Weds) 
Shift 2: Mon to Fri (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm-6am) 
Shift 3: Monday to Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm (Flexibility still required) 

Salary: £14.14ph + O/T rate = Monday to Saturday x 1.5, Sunday x 2 (Quarterly Cash Bonus of Base)


(Continental Shift = £234 Weekly Shift premium) 
(Shift 2 = Shift Allowance) 

Summary:
To provide Engineering support within the team and the wider business, ensuring planned maintenance and equipment failure issues are completed consistently and in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out fault diagnosis/direction and provide rapid response to breakdown situations within the maintained areas.
Be pro-active and responsible in Fault Finding, Problem solving
Undertake Engineering Planned Maintenance activities within the Department
Ensure that all Engineering plant within the allocated area are correctly serviced (planned maintenance routines), maintained and calibrated in conjunction with the current CMMS. (Logging on and off and recording the work carried out)
Ensure that safe working conditions are always maintained in conjunction with company 5’s and Risk Assessment policies both in associated Areas and Responsible plant equipment
Ensure efficient communication between you and your peers, including shift handovers and Miquest entries
Adopt and pursue a working style that will continually improve and enhance work practices within allocated area
Assist with the improvement methods of reducing plant downtime and increasing plant efficiency's within the areas of responsibility, using modern improvement techniques/updates


Additional Responsibilities

Carry out Health and Safety Improvements within the areas as directed by the Engineering Team Leader
Ensure as part of the Team that standards of husbandry and housekeeping are of a high standard as specified within the 5’s audit process
Assist in the development and skills training of the Apprentices allocated to the Team
Be flexible within departments to assist others where extra Resource/knowledge may be required



Experience, attributes & skills sought:

Minimum: BTEC Higher National Certificate in electrical engineering
Minimum: HNC maintenance/manufacturing engineering or similar
Served a recognised apprenticeship
Mechanical bias experience within Engineering
Able to communicate effectively at all levels.
Independent thinking and decision making.
An analytical problem solver — someone who can distill complex issues into coherent solutions.
Ability to meet requirements within demanding timescales.
Able to network and build relationships, with strong interpersonal skills.
Self-reliant, flexible and resourceful. Sets high standards.
