Gap Personnel, operating as an employment business, are currently looking to recruit a Material Analyst for one of the world’s largest metal recycling companies based in Oldbury.

£10.80 p/h


Job Duties

  • Aware of the Hazards within the laboratory and following all Laboratory Health and safety procedures
  • Follow all plant Health and Safety procedures on the site, when collecting samples in production areas
  • Report any issues with regard to health and safety to management
  • Have a sound and knowledgeable understanding of data management, being able to collate data and produce clear and concise reports
  • Ensure routine the testing required to ensure the optimum performance of the waste treatment process is carried out in a timely manner
  • Monitoring Laboratory consumable stock levels and advising when purchase of new consumables is required
  • The responsibilities will include but not limited to providing scientific support for the process and product development of the Oldbury Landfill Avoidance Plant
  • Investigating process variations and devising protocols to enable representative analysis of material streams at varying stages of the stages
  • Developing Analysis protocols using a wide range of analytical techniques including XRF, FTIR, calorimetry, ICP-OES as well as functional analysis
  • The above will obviously require a clear understanding of the Oldbury LAP process in addition to a working knowledge of costumer processes
  • Keep abreast of new and developing technologies that may benefit the company operations and functions
  • Provide Analytical support to process development within the company sites
  • Material (polymers / metals etc) play key role in the majority of the recovery and recycling operations knowledge of materials and their properties
  • Clear and concise reporting and data collation is expected as a given
  • Liaison with other sites within the company group, suppliers to company and equipment plus analytical service providers


  • Previous experience of Material Analyst work
  • Able to work flexibly across shift patterns
