O&M Engineering Manager

Department: Operations & Maintenance

Location: Exeter

Salary: Competitive

Hours of work: 40 hours per week, plus occasional weekends/bank holidays as part on the on-call monitoring rota

Role Summary

As the O&M Engineering Manager you will be providing high level technical support to both the field and office teams. You will be involved with O&M technical projects, onboarding new assets and any resolving any arising faults. You will also be encouraged to find innovative ways to maximise asset performance and providing proposals to clients.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of field engineers
  • Support team on weekends for availability issues
  • Provide comprehensive reports
  • Assist with the compilation of insurance and warranty claims
  • To project manage and participate in major incidents and repairs
  • To be a technical hub, supporting both the Field Service team and office
  • Liaising with clients on key issues and performance reports
  • Manage day-to-day operation and maintenance services to ensure that the PV systems operate to maximum efficiency
  • Offer technical reporting services for PV system maintenance, preventative, and corrective maintenance tasks
  • Health & Safety Audits
  • Deputise for Head of Operations and maintenance as required

Person Specification

  • Can provide high level technical support for fault finding and diagnostics
  • Excellent, habitual report writing and IT skills
  • A clear technical leader, understanding of solar technical issues and resolutions
  • Qualified electrician and Solar PV Engineer
  • 18th Edition C&G qualified along with testing & inspection etc. or equivalent
  • Experience of supervising sub-contractors
  • Can work under own initiative
  • Team player
  • Full clean UK Driving Licence
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of HV systems
  • Expert level knowledge of multiple inverter types
  • Solar experience operating and fault finding on inverters, HV, DC & AC
  • Capable of attending a site, identify faults, diagnose them, and perform repairs accordingly
  • Relevant experience performing operations and maintenance on PV assets
  • Qualified Electrician; BS7671 and Level 3 Electrical NVQ or appropriate equivalent (apprenticeship completed, IET, etc)
  • IOSH Managing Safety or equivalent would be an advantage
  • HNC/HND or similar degree in Electrical Engineering would be an advantage
  • Time served as Electrician and/or Electrical Engineer
