gap professional are operating as an employment agency on behalf of its client who are recruiting for a Production Supervisor based in Chard, Somerset on a permanent basis. They are a leading Manufacturing in their field, if you would like to join a friendly team get in touch.

Hours: Monday – Thursday = 8.00am – 5.00pm (with a 45-minute lunch break) and Friday 8.00 – 12.30pm (No lunch break)
Salary: £29,000 (this salary will be based on experience)

Key Responsibilities:

Within the production area, is responsible for; Safety; Welfare; Resource and the Efficient working of the area
Schedule, coordinate and monitor jobs to ensure efficient operations and cycle time to meet quality standards and to enable on time delivery, while maximizing resources and maintaining proper inventory levels
Embrace and implement Lean Manufacturing principles, methods and tools
Within the production area, ensure all activities undertaken are compliant to HSQE legislation and procedure
Within the production area, ensure all activities undertaken are compliant to procedures, work methods
Organise and lead a short daily production review, highlighting current / imminent issues associated with Safety; Quality; Cost and On Time Delivery
Identify and assist justification of new and replacement production equipment
Evaluate production requirements and shop capacity data to assign, coordinate, and ensure appropriate staffing levels for jobs
Organise the production schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities, and availability or capability of workers, parts, material, machines, and equipment
Develop realistic, detailed production schedules and conduct critical path analysis to support program planning and continuing performance evaluation
Maintain, coordinate and monitor performance of the daily and weekly schedule for all areas in the shop including the review of available capacity and priorities
Communicate and distribute production schedules and work orders
Assess progress and discuss needed changes. Revise production schedule when necessary as agreed with Management
Analyse plans, batch sizes, lead times, and replenishment strategies to balance inventory levels and productivity, manage WIP
Ensure timely preparation and submission of status and progress reports, develop reports and techniques to monitor production program schedule variances against the plan and current forecasts
Undertake performance management of individuals within your team
Identify, develop, and implement efficiency improvements for the company, implement and monitor cost savings initiatives
Drive continuous improvement and lean manufacturing efforts
Any other duties that may be required to ensure the smooth operation of the Company
