gap personnel (operating as an employment business) are currently recruiting for experienced Welder/ Fabricator to work for a leading engineering company, based in outskirts of Exeter.

Initially this would be a temporary position with the view of this becoming permanent for the right candidate.

Duties to include:

•To follow detailed work instructions and technical drawings relating to the welding and fabrication of component parts and large assemblies. This will include but not limited to, use of Mig/TigArc, plasma profiler, section rollers, guillotine, plate rollers, press brakes and overhead gantries.

•To ensure the scope and timing of assigned tasks are understood, completed as per requirements and in accordance with relevant working procedures.

•To ensure all relevant documentation is completed correctly and in a timely manner.

•Maintain all tools and equipment in a clean and usable state; return tools and equipment to appropriate storage area(s) when not being used.Report defects or damage to the workshop manager.

•To work in accordance with current quality procedures and advise any errors or variances to the workshop manager.

•Assist in the maintenance of clean, tidy and safe working areas including canteen area, toilets/washing facilities to reduce the risk of skin disease or infections.

•To maintain an awareness and observation of Fire, Security, and Health and Safety Regulations.

•To wear correct PPE as directed by the workshop manager.

•To work in other departments and locations as and when required

•To be prepared to work outside normal working hours, including weekends sometimes at short notice.

•Be able to work offsite, according to the requirements of the business and the delivery of its services, including liaising with customers, as a representative of the business.

•To carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job.

Experience required:

•Time served engineering back ground

•Ability to read and interpret drawings

•Good knowledge of welding and fabrication procedures

•Codification or equivalent qualification in welding (MIG/TIG)

•Good communication skills

•Good teamwork

•Good literacy & numeracy skills

Working hours are:

Monday to Friday 8.00 – 5.00
