Gap Personnel, operating as an employment business, are currently looking to recruit a Production Supervisor for our client based in Tipton.

 

Job purpose:

Under the direction of the Production Manager oversee the running of production processes to achieve the on-time and efficient delivery of quality products.

Planning work schedules to optimise production flow and able to troubleshoot and solve issues that arise on the production floor to ensure maximum output, cost efficiency and safe working conditions.  A collaborative leader and an advocate for Safety, Quality, Continuous Process Improvement and People Development.

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Follow the company HSQE policies and maintain a proactive safety culture to achieve / sustain zero incident. Build a culture of reporting accidents, near misses, identifying hazards, and implementing control measures to prevent occurrences.  All safety incidents need to be fully investigated, documented and corrective action taken in line with company procedures. 
  2. To deliver production plan, to support the cell leads, to co-ordinate works orders with material and equipment availability, to ensure staff understand daily build requirements and order due dates.  To solve production problems in a timely manner, by understanding the MRP scheduling system and tools available to guide production decision making.
  3. Monitor the performance and output of the teams and assign tasks and inputs to ensure that work specifications, schedules, volume, cost, waste targets and quality standards are met. Work with the Production Manager to develop metrics on throughput within each cell and identify improvement actions to increase over time.
  4. Encourage & establish great teamwork including collaborating with other production supervisors and cell leaders to ensure we make best use of all hourly staff to achieve production & business objective.
  5. Compile reports about production performance and status providing management with updates as needed.
  6. Recruitment of open positions. Create, review & sign off employee performance goals and personal development plans. Monitor progress and provide feedback. Work with HR to address poor performance/attendance through company disciplinary and capability procedure.
  7. Update training matrices & review on a monthly basis for production manager sign-off.
  8. Implement and maintain cost reduction, scrap reduction, lead-time reduction and any productivity programs to benefit improvements in production efficiency and cost reduction. For example, ensuring employees complete first off and last off documentation. Highlighting any issues that arise. Ensure employees rework their own non-conforming products when possible.
  9. Reduction of unscheduled downtime is a key metric for this role.. Ensure preventative repairs or the replacement of faulty production equipment is done in collaboration with the Maintenance team. It is also important to raise standards in relation to 5S in all areas
  10. Support lean processes improvement actions to achieve cost and quality objectives. As a key member of the CI team you are responsible for facilitating ideas generation within cell areas and the implementation of projects once approved through the CI tracker.  
  11. Any other duties as may be reasonably be required, commensurate with the role

Knowledge & Competencies

  1. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  2. Excellent organisational skill including the ability to resolve disputes and observe confidentiality
  3. Ability to use PC and widely used software packages, including Excel, Word, Outlook and SAP reporting.
  4. Ability to learn new software packages as necessary.
  5. Ability to meet deadlines, acomplish work in order of priority.
  6. Keep a professional manner and composure and effectiveness under pressure and challenging conditions.
  7. Ability to negotiate conflict and maintain constructive working relationships with people at all levels of the organisation.

Qualifications

Required:

·       Education: NEBS or equivalent qualification

·       Experience: 5 years of supervisory experience in a factory environment, supervision experience.

·       Experience of driving teams to achieve required performance levels.

·       Experience of goal setting techniques to achieve targets.

 

Desired:

·       Education: Degree in an operational or engineering discipline

·       Experience: Previous Automotive supervisory experience.

 

Working Hours and Pay:

Monday - Friday

6:00 - 14:00

£40k per year DOE
