Financial Planning Analyst

£50k-£55k per annum

Monday – Friday / General Office Hours

Wrexham

 

Our client based in the Wrexham area is currently recruiting a Financial Planning Analyst on a permanent basis.  Working closely with Finance and Operational Management, the Financial Analyst will analyse business performance, identify trends, improve financial reporting, develop forecasts and support business planning. The successful candidate will become a trusted business partner, providing data-driven recommendations that improve profitability, operational efficiency and long-term business performance.

 

Performance Objectives

Financial Analysis

·         Analyse financial and operational data to identify trends, risks and opportunities.

·         Produce weekly and monthly financial performance reports.

·         Develop financial models to support business decisions.

·         Conduct variance analysis against budgets, forecasts and prior performance.

·         Monitor key financial and operational KPIs.

·         Support profitability analysis across departments, products and customers.

·         Provide meaningful financial insight to senior management.

Forecasting & Budgeting

·         Assist in the preparation of annual budgets.

·         Support rolling forecasts and financial planning activities.

·         Develop financial projections for business growth and investment.

·         Analyse operational performance against forecast.

·         Support departmental budget reviews.

·         Identify financial risks and opportunities.

Business Partnering

·         Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Production and Supply Chain to improve business performance.

·         Challenge operational assumptions using financial analysis.

·         Support management with investment appraisals and business cases.

·         Provide financial guidance to departmental managers.

·         Assist operational teams in understanding financial performance.

Strategic Planning

·         Support long-term financial planning.

·         Assist with evaluating business opportunities and investment proposals.

·         Conduct scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis.

·         Assist with capital investment appraisals (CAPEX).

·         Provide recommendations to improve profitability and efficiency.

Reporting

·         Assist in monthly management reports.

·         Develop KPI dashboards for senior management.

·         Monitor working capital performance.

Continuous Improvement

·         Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting.

·         Automate reporting processes where possible.

·         Improve data quality and reporting accuracy.

·         Support ERP reporting improvements.

·         Assist with business process improvement initiatives.

Compliance & Governance

·         Ensure financial reporting complies with company policies.

·         Support internal and external audits.

·         Maintain financial controls and reporting accuracy.

·         Assist with statutory reporting where required.

·         Ensure confidentiality of financial information.

 

Person Specification

·         Highly analytical with exceptional attention to detail.

·         Strong commercial awareness.

·         Excellent communication and presentation skills.

·         Ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

·         Strong organisational skills.

·         Proactive and self-motivated.

·         Excellent problem-solving ability.

·         Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

·         Strong business partnering skills.

·         Ability to influence decision-making through financial insight

·         Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or equivalent.

·         Part Qualified or Qualified (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent) desirable.

·         Previous experience as a Financial Analyst, FP&A Analyst, Commercial Finance Analyst or similar.

·         Experience producing financial forecasts and budgets.

·         Strong financial modelling capability.

·         Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

·         Power BI or other Business Intelligence software.

·         SAP, EFACS, Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP systems.

·         Cost accounting knowledge.

·         Lean Manufacturing environment.

·         SQL or advanced data analysis tools.

·         Dashboard development and automation.

·         Experience supporting business transformation projects
