Health and Safety Manager
£50k-£55k per annum
Monday - Friday / General Office Hours
Wrexham
Our client based in the Wrexham area is currently looking for a Health and Safety Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Site Manager you will ensure the effective management of our client’s systems and compliance with relevant internal and external compliance obligations. You are responsible for the administration, maintenance, and improvement on the integrated management systems for health, safety and the environment.
Performance Objectives
· Maintain and improve all areas of the business systems to ISO14001 ISO 45001 in line with the management system requirements, to include training on any new updates.
· Develop, manage and lead on the integrated internal audit program, including the planning, monitoring, and communication of results to the management team.
· Act as lead for external certification audits to management system standards.
· Monitor health, safety, and environmental objectives, devising and implementing improvement plans, and driving actions to closure, including the management of the compliance.
· Regular reporting of KPI’s and EHS management system performance to be submitted to the Site Manager, as required by internal and external reporting arrangements.
· Continuously promote a culture that involves worker participation, and enhances the EHS management system performance.
· Manage hazard, near miss and accident reporting – responsible for data capture, analysis, record keeping - investigations to root cause and identification of robust corrective actions to improve business performance.
· Annual review of all risk assessments including a full review of risk assessment post any accidents reported.
· Ensure the consultation and participation of workers in EHS topics and provide support and training to all employees and when necessary, visitors and contractors. Support all departments on implementing and maintaining the contractor control process.
· Undertake and maintain a risk reduction program for hazard identification and assessment across all functions of the business to meet compliance obligations driving robust corrections to closure.
· Ensure any new equipment on site are installed safely and maintained to necessary standard.
· Support the co-ordination and communications with all health and safety representatives and emergency response personnel.
· Provide data and input into the EHS committee meetings in a timely manner, and act as chair to the EHS committees.
· Lead the monthly safety walk and track all items to closure.
· Monthly compliance to fire prevention and H&S equipment.
· To complete other such ad hoc work as required by management including visits to other sites.
· Liaise as necessary with other organisation and relevant authorities, providing assistance and cooperation concerning remedial actions.
Person Specification
· Qualified internal auditor ISO 14001, ISO 45001 (Within last 3 years).
· NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
· Lead Auditor Status.
· NVQ or equivalent in Environmental Management.
· NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
· Member of IOSH.
· Manufacturing experience.
· Experience of implementing & maintaining management systems in line with ISO 14001 & ISO 45001.
· Knowledge of UK legal requirements.
· Experience of manual handling techniques.
· Some experience of behavioural safety would be an advantage.
· Experience of maintaining document/record control systems.
· IT literate Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Self-directed with a high degree of self-motivation
