CNC Setter/Operator

Job Title: CNC Lathe Setter / Programmer 
Location: Crewkerne
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 39 per week, Day Shift (early finish Friday)

About the Role:
gap personnel are recruiting an experienced CNC Lathe Setter / Programmer to join a busy machine shop in Crewkerne. This is a great opportunity for a skilled machinist who is reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate CNC and NC lathes, milling machines, drills, and auxiliary machinery

• Read and interpret technical drawings and setup sheets

• Program machines using software to model cutting paths (2, 3 & 4 axes)

• Inspect workpieces for accuracy and defects using measuring instruments

• Adjust machine settings to optimise production while maintaining quality

• Troubleshoot machine issues and perform basic maintenance

• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in turning or CNC lathe operations

• Familiarity with Fanuc controls preferred

• Strong understanding of production procedures

• Ability to read drawings and manuals accurately

• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills

• Good teamwork and communication skills

• Physical stamina and ability to work on-site
