gap personnel Gloucester, are currently recruiting for a Machine Setter & Operator for a unique business based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

The site produces a unique product that is distributed exclusively across the UK and worldwide. The role of the Machine Setter & Operator is a key part of the business and you will be joining a key working to specific production targets in a small, relaxed and friendly environment.

Duties include:

  • Key holder of opening & closing the site (dependant on shift pattern)
  • Turn on, set machines ready for production
  • Ensure that all products are ready to begin feeding machines
  • Running quality, temperature & machine operating checks
  • Add / remove tooling where adequate for machine runs
  • Product and tool changeovers per customer / production orders
  • Light machine maintenance such as cleaning and checking rollers

Due to being small friendly team, flexibility to assist on small additional warehouse duties may be included to support the business.

Ideal candidates will:

  • Previous experience with machine operating and setting
  • Team player, flexible and adaptable to small team environment
  • Forklift License (desirable)

Basic Working Hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 6am – 2pm / 2pm – 10pm (rotational)
  • 37.5 hours per week

 About the role:

  • Loading of card into cutting and forming machine
  • Changing of tools for clients bespoke package designs
  • Making up of boxes as per customer specification
  • Press machine to process folds and cutting designs
  • Pre pack items into boxes which includes box making, packing, stapling and labelling
  • Achieving production targets to ensure timescales are achieved for customer delivery

About you:

  • Previous experience within a production manufacturing environment (desirable but not essential)
  • Forklift license (desirable)

The role is working in a start-up business, so you will be leading from the front, starting before the general production staff are employed and getting to know the business first hand before rolling out your knowledge and experience to your team. The ideal candidate will be proactive and assist in setting up the new business, whether that be dealing with deliveries or helping get the machinery and equipment up and running.

  • Operating of finishing equipment producing finished labels in compliance with company operating procedures.
  • Ensure machinery runs at maximum output, bearing in mind quality, machinery limitations and health and safety.
  • Adopt a “pitstop” mentality to reduce change over times, fully utilize and organise press assistants and co-operate with staggered break times to increase runt time against downtime.
