Our client based in the Corwen area is currently recruiting for a Cutting Room Line Leader to join their team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Shift Manager as the Line Leader you will ensure smooth running and plan achievement of the Cutting Room. You will ensure all cutters are always running and efficient in accordance with production and packing plan.

Performance Objectives

  • Ensure three cutting machines are running at all times
  • Responsible for OEE and rack transfer with each cutter achieving 28 racks per shift
  • Responsible for the full training of your team
  • Respond to changes that may be required
  • Ensure ‘Downtime’ is kept to a minimum, report any engineering problems to Engineering
  • Check that cutters and cutting rooms are cleaned at the end of the shift
  • Responsible for ensuring Health & Safety requirements are followed
  • Ensure that all paperwork is completed correctly
  • Prepare for the next shift as directed by the production plan
  • Perform regular product quality reviews
  • Communicate effectively with the process team to ensure efficient running of the cutting room
  • Organise breaks and provide cover for toilet breaks
  • Responsible for food safety and working in accordance with the company’s core values

Our client based in the Corwen area is currently recruiting for a Packing Leader to join their team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Packing Manager you will supervise and manage the packing of the products on lines 1 and 2.

Performance Objectives

  • Ensure metal checks are carried out and recorded.
  • Ensure the correct “DATE” is set-up on the products, the display cases, the case taping machine (Little David Printer), the Multipack Carton machine, etc.
  • Ensure correct “Day Codes” are being used.
  • Ensure that the correct date is written into the date code check sheet weekly.
  • Setting up the Line correctly:
  • FBL Overhead transfers (clean/wipe sensors and check sensor positions for products size).
  • FBL Bar handling (set Product Length and Offset %).
  • ALL Wrappers (set cut off length, offset, product length and check ratio).
  • Packet checks (date code position and clarity, all seals, registration, film rotation).
  • Checkweigher (set for correct weight of product), Take end of run readings and record.
  • Ensure flow-wrapped film is set correctly, adjust “Offset” and “Long Seam” overlap as required and also check the wrapper speed.
  • Open underweight products and return to process team
  • Ensure sufficient products will be produced to complete fixed pallet quantities, calculate and communicate with process team.
  • If there is a shortage of MP Cartons or Display cases, ensure sufficient products are counted and available in baskets for when the packaging arrives.
  • Ensure there are sufficient Display cases and Outer Corrugated cases for the day’s production, ensure correctly date coded and labelled, (bar codes, specific customer requested labels, etc.).
  • Respond to changes that may be required, i.e. change of product due material shortages, etc.
  • Remove completed pallets and replace with empty pallet.
  • Top-up Glue machines.
  • Change Sellotape reels on case taping machines.
  • Ensure correct information has been recorded on the pallet slips before the pallet leaves the packing area
  • Ensure “Downtime” is kept to a minimum, i.e. at product changeover, help clear the line, change date codes; when Checkweigher printer paper runs out, change paper quickly; ensure date code ribbon is always available on line, ready to replace; ensure sufficient printed flow-wrap film is available on line, etc.
  • Always communicate with the process team.
  • If there has been a machine breakdown and products have accumulated in baskets, communicate with Packing Manager regarding the organising of “split-breaks”, etc.
  • Provide cover for “Toilet Breaks”.
  • Check packing lines have been cleaned correctly at the end of the shift.
  • Ensure process area is kept clean at all times – “Clean as you go”.
  • Ensure all engineering problems, breakdowns, etc. are reported to Engineering.
  • Complete all production/quality paperwork and packing sheets as requested
  • Ensure that the hourly bar count is correctly filled on the daily production sheet.
  • Participate in and/or perform regular product quality reviews (organoleptic, packaging, etc.).
  • Ensure health and safety is a priority
  • Seek out opportunities for improvements in productivity and efficiency – “More for less”.
  • Alignment with the company’s core values
  • Responsible for food safety

Reporting to the Shift Manager as the Deputy Shift Manager you will run the shift in the absence of the Shift Manager, ensuring a safe environment with the factory performance targets of output, labour utilisation, waste and product quality are continuously achieved and recorded. When the Shift Manager is present you will provide additional support to them as required as well as assuming a hands on leader role.

Performance Objectives

  • Stand-In Manager running the shift in the absence of the Shift Manager for their assigned shift (from time to time, there may be a requirement to cover different shifts/Shift Managers).
  • Supervise the smooth running of the shift, being the point of contact for all management enquiries
  • Ensure that the FBL achieves the production plan with the best possible quality of bar minimising giveaway, waste and labour
  • Oversee the FBL packing operation ensuring that the product is correctly labelled and efficiently packaged according to the agreed standard and all documents are completed correctly
  • Record and assess the FBL OEE ensuring that machine availability and performance are maximised, rework is minimal and recommend improvements where identified
  • Manage the team ensuring that the plan is efficiently achieved minimising giveaway, waste, underweights and labour
  • Oversee the packing operation ensuring that the product is correctly labelled and efficiently packaged according to the agreed standard and all documents are completed correctly
  • Complete the attendance sheet for the shift, marking down the arrival times and departure times of each individual and any stand in’s/uplifts in responsibility
  • Manage and support all of the staff on the shift
  • Conduct return to work interviews
  • Complete all production reports including the electronic shift report and giveaway/downtime
  • Ensure a safe working area for all staff
  • When the Shift Manager is present, provide any additional supervisory support that they require and assume a leader role in this shift.

  • Operating of finishing equipment producing finished labels in compliance with company operating procedures.
