Job Description: An excellent opportunity to start with one of Crewe's leading food manufacturers. The chosen candidate will be responsible in operating a variety of machinery, must be able to problem-solve and work to a high attention to detail. They must also be able to work as part of a team and follow detailed instruction from colleagues.

Required Experience: The ideal person must have previous experience in a food manufacturing environment and previously worked with machinery. Full training is provided on the job.

 About the role:

  • Operating of finishing equipment producing finished labels in compliance with company operating procedures.
  • Ensure machinery runs at maximum output, bearing in mind quality, machinery limitations and health and safety.
  • Adopt a “pitstop” mentality to reduce change over times, fully utilize and organise press assistants and co-operate with staggered break times to increase runt time against downtime.
  • Proactively manage presses to achieve the best quality levels ensuring that all paperwork is completed and up to date and ensures traceability.
  • Ensure maximum material utilization and a reduction of wastage of all materials including inks.
  • Ensure machine is left in a safe manner for your shift opposite and any issues communicated clearly.

  • Detail all press specifications and technical details which are required to produce jobs
  • Co-operate and participate in continual improvements to the press and wider company environment.
  • Carry out general duties which may include packing, sheeting and any other duties that may be required.

Here is a little more information on the role...

Based at a large storage warehouse in Carlton, Barnsley you will be responsible for picking items within a refrigerated environment selecting the highest quality goods and food items to be distributed to stores across the UK. You will be picking various food items to orders including fruit, vegetables and meat items using a headset and scanner. No previous experience is required for this role as training is provided. Speed and accuracy essential for this role. You will be moving around lots and doing lots of lifting too.

This role is for the afternoon shift on a set shift of Tuesday to Saturday and offers genuine temp to perm opportunities after 12 weeks.

How much will you get paid as a Warehouse Operative?

  • Weekdays £9.95 per hour rising to £12.45 after 6pm
