Gap Personnel (operating as an employment business) are currently recruiting a Logistics Operator to join their manufacturing company based in the Cardiff area.

Our client is a busy aircraft manufacturer. As such, they are looking to add new members of staff to their team. This role requires a high level of attention, accuracy and a previous working history in this role is desirable.

The main role of the Logistics Operator is to support the efficient running of the goods-in department, ensuring that incoming/outgoing goods are received/sent accurately and effectively.

The activities associated with this role are integral to the company’s production output and are vital to supporting our commitment to quality and providing outstanding plating treatments and service to our customers.

Contract: This is a temporary on-going position which could lead to permanent for the right candidates.

Salary: £10

Shifts: day shift, 8am-4.30pm Monday – Thurs and 8am-2pm Fri.

  9. Report all accidents to a first aider on site
  10. Be well presented and wear company uniform as directed
  11. Follow 5s methodology to organise work spaces to create efficiency and effectiveness



Duties include:
 

  1. To receive all callers to the goods in/out area and effect their requirements in a courteous and punctual manner.
  2. To ensure a customer order and all relevant documentation is processed correctly through the receiving and despatch stages of customer order processing.
  3. To assist with the packaging of goods and preparing of paperwork ready for despatch in preparation for carrier collection as and when required.
  4. To assist with the movement and loading of goods to and from delivery vehicles.
  5. To ensure any paperwork received at goods in/out is passed to the relevant department and to assist with filing documentation as necessary.
  6. To manage the dry stores, ensuring the efficient movement of supplies to relevant store department, assisting where necessary.
  7. To maintain a satisfactory level of cleanliness and order within the goods inwards area.
  8. To ensure daily pre-operation check is carried out on forklift truck and ensure regular service is arranged and effected.

Requirements:

  • Read, understand and successfully interpret incoming and outgoing documentation.
  • Efficient and effective working – managing time to prioritise deadlines
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills – working with others to provide information they need to complete tasks and eliminate production delays
  • Ability to work as part of a team – working flexibly and collaboratively to solve problems and exceed departmental targets
  • Ability to follow and work within procedure - exercising sound judgement at all times; suggesting appropriate improvements to support team delivery
  • Sound literacy and numerical skills
  • Personal ownership and responsibility - being professional, punctual, consistent and reliable

Knowledge

  • Working knowledge within manufacturing/production environment (desirable but not essential).
  • Ability to take direction, learn and apply knowledge in a changing operating environment.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in goods-inwards (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience working in a changing operational environment
  • Forklift experience- licence required

Start Date: ASAP
