PERMANENT OPPORTUNITIES - ASSEMBLY OPERATORS - ILMINSTER - Salary of £20,000 + 20% PM shift allowance

gap personnel Wiltshire are currently recruiting for ASSEMBLY OPERATORS based in Ilminster, Somerset working rotating shifts:

Monday to Thursday, 6am to 2:30pm, Friday 6am to 1:30pm - week 1

Monday to Thursday, 2pm to 10:30pm, Friday 1pm to 8:30pm - week 2

Our client is a world leader within the UK, Europe and USA across the optical designing, testing and manufacturing. Due to continued year-on-year growth they are now looking to increase their engineering team.

The role is offering a permanent position with a starting salary of £20,000 basic with 20% shift allowence while working on the PM shift with overtime available over 39 hours paid at x1.5. Although previous experience is an advantage, it is not essential and full training will be provided.

The Manufacturing Department offers a wide range of duties such as:

  • Set up and operate production equipment in accordance with manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures
  • Pack finished products
  • Proactively engage in the continuous improvement to make efficiencies and be more productive
  • Training and working within a small team, assembling periscopes and opto-mechanical Sights for armoured vehicles
  • Bond optical surfaces together for substrates and laser protection filters
  • Set optical sub-assemblies to the correct orientation
  • Inspect Optics and Metal work to required specification
  • Follow the MRB process for non-conforming parts
  • Perform AQL inspection on some parts
  • Ensure history card and other documentation is completed
  • Set up and operate production equipment in accordance with manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures
