Job Title: Electrical Maintenance Engineer (70/30 Electrical Bias)
Crewkerne, Somerset
Full-time, Permanent
Competitive hourly rate (depending on experience & qualifications)
39 hours per week – Day shift with early Friday finish
Quarterly bonus scheme + strong benefits package
Are you a hands-on Maintenance Engineer with a strong electrical background and a knack for solving real engineering problems?
We’re recruiting on behalf of a long-established industrial engineering business based in Crewkerne, Somerset. They’re known for their custom, low-volume production for global clients and are now seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their team.
This is a 70/30 electrical/mechanical role — ideal for someone who’s confident working with electrical systems but can also turn their hand to mechanical work when needed.
The environment is hot, loud, and industrial — but if you enjoy working on a variety of complex machinery, not production lines, and making a difference on the shop floor, this could be the role for you.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Reactive and preventative maintenance across a variety of plant and machinery
- Electrical fault finding, testing, installation, and repair — including lighting, alarm systems, wiring, and control panels
- Supporting mechanical maintenance: hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and production equipment
- Reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical diagrams, manuals, and specs
- Diagnosing faults quickly to reduce downtime and support production
- Performing inspections, keeping maintenance logs, and complying with safety standards
What We’re Looking For:
- At least 3 years’ experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Proven electrical expertise – ideally with 18th Edition and NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
- Mechanical competence and willingness to assist with non-electrical tasks when needed
- Experience with preventative and corrective maintenance routines
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Strong problem-solving skills, good communication, and a proactive attitude
- HNC/HND or multi-skilled background would be a bonus
What’s On Offer:
- Competitive hourly pay based on skills and experience
- Quarterly bonus scheme
- Day shift hours (early finish every Friday)
- Company pension + sick pay (after qualifying period)
- Free on-site parking
- Health & wellbeing programme
- A long-term role in a business with a century of history and a modern approach to people and performance
Work authorisation:
You must have the right to work in the UK.
