Location: Norwich City


Pay Rate: £12.26 per hour


Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 07:30 - 15:30

Gap Personnel is working with a prominent company maintaining the streets of Norwich City. We are currently seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our team as Sweeper Operatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive a Compact or equivalent sweeper to maintain clean streets.
  • Operate a Refuse Collection Vehicle (RCV) up to 7.5 tonnes to cover holiday/sickness 
  • Collect and dispose of waste at the local transfer station.
  • Assist with manoeuvring duties as needed.
  • Visit all designated sites and locations on schedule.
  • Maintain high-quality standards while completing assigned tasks.
  • Report any required proactive works, including issues like fly-tipping.
  • Complete associated paperwork and maintain effective communication with team members.
  • Conduct daily and weekly checks on sweepers and ensure pre-use checks are performed and recorded digitally.
  • Clean the sweeper internally and externally daily.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies, ensuring the welfare of yourself and others.
  • Cooperate with customers to achieve tasks effectively.
  • Undergo necessary training to maintain compliance with licensing requirements.

Additional Duties:

  • Opportunity to act up and drive an 18-tonne sweeper vehicle with additional pay.

Person Specification:

Qualifications / Knowledge / Training:

  • Full UK driving licence, minimum Category C1 (essential).
  • Category C licence (essential).
  • Up-to-date valid Driver CPC card (essential).
  • Experience using a mechanical sweeper (desirable).
  • Local geographical knowledge (desirable).
  • Understanding of Health & Safety regulations (essential).
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills (essential).

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role (desirable).
  • Experience using a street sweeper (desirable).

Skills / Abilities:

  • Ability to work under pressure (essential).
  • Excellent communication skills, able to follow verbal and written instructions (essential).
  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a team (essential).
  • Strong attention to detail (essential).
  • Dependable with good timekeeping and attendance (essential).
  • Ability to perform manual handling tasks (essential).
