Job Title: HR Manager
Location: Baglan, Port Talbot
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
About the Role
A well-established manufacturing company in Port Talbot is seeking an experienced HR Manager to take full ownership of its standalone HR function. This is a sole HR position within the business, with some support for basic administrative duties.
We’re looking for someone with a strong manufacturing background who understands the fast-paced, hands-on environment of a production setting. This is an onsite-only role (no remote or hybrid working available).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of the HR function as a standalone HR professional
- Partner with managers and team leaders to support strategic and operational goals
- Oversee end-to-end recruitment processes for both shop floor and office-based roles
- Ensure legal compliance and adherence to HR policies and procedures
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date personnel records
- Coordinate training and development activities
- Track and report on key HR metrics (e.g., absence, overtime, employee wellbeing)
- Support a safe and healthy work environment in line with health & safety requirements
- Provide occasional general office and admin support when needed
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday: 8:30am – 5:00pm or 8:00am – 4:30pm
- Onsite only – no remote working available
Holiday Entitlement
Annual leave is fixed in line with company shutdowns and school holiday periods:
- 2 weeks at Christmas
- 2 weeks in the summer
- 1 week at Easter
Person Specification
We’re looking for a resilient, proactive HR professional who can operate independently and build strong relationships at all levels. You must be confident managing HR in a manufacturing environment and able to handle a broad range of generalist responsibilities.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a generalist HR role within a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices
- End-to-end recruitment experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel
- High attention to detail with an analytical approach
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities
- CIPD qualification (full or part) preferred
