Newton Abbot, Devon

gap personnel are recruiting a skilled and detail-oriented Painter & Decorator to join a growing team within the manufacturing and construction sector. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a business undergoing positive change and expansion under new leadership.

Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing surfaces and applying a range of finishes to enhance and protect interiors and exteriors. You will take pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and maintaining excellent standards across all projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and filling imperfections
  • Apply paint, varnish, wallpaper, and specialist finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment
  • Measure, cut, and hang wallpaper with precision
  • Protect surrounding areas and maintain clean working conditions
  • Identify and correct surface defects before painting
  • Interpret and work from technical drawings and specifications
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to meet deadlines and project goals
  • Ensure work meets company quality standards and complete required QC documentation
  • Maintain a safe working environment at all times

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong communication skills in English – both written and verbal
  • Proficient in painting preparation, application, and finishing techniques
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High attention to detail and a creative approach to decorative solutions
  • Professional, reliable, and motivated to deliver quality results

Experience & Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 Painting & Decorating or Time Served (required)

Hours & Pay

  • Monday to Friday, 0800am – 1700pm
  • Pay: up to £18.00ph
