Job description

Our client is an international leader in taste & nutrition innovation. Their scientists create ingredients for products people enjoy & feel better consuming. We are looking for a QA Technician for the site in Birstwith (no experience needed)

We would be looking for someone with good GCSE/A level qualifications that indicates their ability to learn.

The person doesn’t have to have any prior QA or food industry experience, we will train them in everything they need to know. Obviously if they do have experience that would be a bonus.

This would be with the view to becoming a full time contract employee, after probation period.

Due to the remote location of the site the person would have to have their own transport because there is no public transport.

Initially the hours would be 8am – 4pm until they have undergone training to be able to then take on the 6am-2pm shift, which comes with a little bit more responsibility in terms of being able to test and release products on their own.

Initially the pay would be £14.00 an hour  for a 40 hour week.

Pay: 14.00/h 

Duties:

Product Control & Testing

  • Ensure raw material testing is completed in line with the sites schedule and results are monitored and trended
  • Ensure samples of finished products and raw materials are retained to the sites and customers’ requirements
  • Finished product testing to be completed as per company and customer requirements
  • Understand the site testing schedule and arrange the timely testing of (but not limited to) swabs, raw materials and finished product, where necessary, working cross functionally to ensure the correct lead time of products and raw materials is obtained
  • Upload testing results to SAP
  • Review testing results and support trending
  • Check daily stock report from K&N

Product release

  • Ensuring the correct documentation is received with all raw materials
  • Working cross functionally to ensure the prompt release of all finished products and raw materials from SAP
  • Completion of all COA’s and CoC’s to accompany finished products
  • Ensuring the correct information and parametres are included on COA’s and CoC’s in line with our customers requirements

Non-conformance management - Raw materials, Finished product and Standards

  • Raising of Z1 non-conformances to suppliers on SAP for any non-conforming raw materials
  • Raising and escalation of any non-conforming product, supporting the production teams in corrective and preventative actions

Sensory evaluation

  • Control and management of retained samples

Quality Inspection and Compliance tasks

  • Perform routine factory-based food safety and quality standards inspections and audits including (but not an exhaustive list): Fabrication inspections, GMP & Hygiene Verification audits, Foreign body inspections, Systems audits and logging all non-conformances.
  • Provide guidance, education and support to the department being audited to enable them to self-inspect and ensure they understand the standards required.
  • Routine review and escalation where necessary of process control records
  • Complete scheduled glass and perspex audits
  • Complete Knife and balance checks
  • Monthly fridge temperature checks
  • Weekly Snap trap checks

Good Manufacturing Practices

  • Work cross-functionally to drive improvement in factory standards to exceed our customer and regulatory expectations
  • Support of Continuous improvement projects to build a stronger quality culture on site

Ordering

  • Raise POs when requested
  • Responsible for the ordering od technical consumables within budgetary constraints
