Children & Young People Qualified Assessor (CYP)

Salary: £26,200 – £28,880
Location: Cardiff (Head Office with regional travel)
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 16:30

The Role

As an Assessor, you will deliver structured, end-to-end support to apprenticeship learners, guiding them through their Children & Young People qualification.

You will play a key role in ensuring learners receive high-quality training, assessment, and feedback, helping them successfully complete their programmes and progress in their careers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, knowledge and competency-based assessments
  • Manage a caseload of learners across a regional area, including workplace visits
  • Support learners through regular interaction, planning, and feedback
  • Monitor learner progress and ensure timely completion of qualifications
  • Conduct monthly progress reviews and set clear, measurable targets
  • Develop and maintain Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
  • Support learners in developing literacy, numeracy, and digital skills
  • Assess and mark workplace evidence in line with qualification requirements
  • Coordinate learner inductions with employers
  • Maintain compliance with internal quality assurance processes

Requirements

Essential:

  • Level 4 or 5 NVQ/QCF in Children & Young People
  • Experience delivering training within the sector
  • CAVA qualification (or equivalent)
  • Previous assessor experience
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Willingness to complete a DBS check and relevant registration

Desirable:

  • Welsh language skills
