Essential Skills Assessor (North Wales)

Salary: £24,720 – £27,800
Location: North Wales (Home-based with regional travel)
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 16:30

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a well-regarded training provider to recruit an Essential Skills Assessor. This organisation has a strong reputation for supporting both learners and employees, offering a collaborative environment and clear opportunities for professional growth.

This is a home-based role with travel across North Wales, ideal for someone passionate about supporting learners to achieve core skills qualifications.

The Role

As an Essential Skills Assessor, you will support apprenticeship learners throughout their programme, delivering training and assessment in Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital Literacy in line with awarding body requirements.

You will play a key role in helping learners develop fundamental skills needed for both their qualification and future career progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging literacy, numeracy, and digital literacy sessions (group workshops and one-to-one)
  • Support learners to achieve Essential Skills qualifications and meet framework requirements
  • Register, conduct, and invigilate controlled tasks in line with awarding body standards
  • Prepare, assess, and mark learner work, contributing to standardisation activities
  • Build strong relationships with learners and employers to support achievement
  • Maintain compliance with internal and external quality assurance standards
  • Accurately record learner progress and assessment outcomes
  • Ensure timely completion of learner documentation
  • Deliver high-quality training to a caseload of learners
  • Travel regionally to carry out workplace assessments
  • Contribute to performance targets and learner success rates

Requirements

Essential:

  • Experience within work-based learning and awarding body practices
  • Experience delivering Essential Skills qualifications
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Willingness to complete a DBS check and relevant registration

Desirable:

  • Recognised teaching or assessing qualification (e.g. TAQA, CAVA, A1 or equivalent)
  • Welsh language skills
