Gap Personnel (operating as an employment business) are currently recruiting for our client in Coventry for a permanent Workshop Plant Technician

Hours of work:

Monday – Friday

08:00 - 16:30

Pay

Between £25,000 to £27,000 DOE

Description and key responsibilities as a Workshop Plant Technician:

Responsible for the diagnostic testing, servicing and repairs on heavy plant and defence related equipment

  • Assess overall condition of product.
  • Strip unit in accordance work instructions.

      For all MoD work, jobs must follow MoD requirements i.e. ‘Strip & Survey Reports, component traceability, whilst always referring to a Work Instruction during dismantling, assembly and test.

  • Assess individual components to ensure they are fit for purpose.
  • Evaluate the commercial viability and availability of parts prior to the commencement of any work.
  • Complete Job Card with any additional BOM required.
  • Build product in accordance with manufacturer instructions/AESP work instruction.
  • Test product to OE specification.
  • Report any faults to the Workshop Supervisor who will advise what action is needed.
  • Produce work of a consistently high quality whilst working efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure that all company procedures are adhered to – these include health and safety, quality and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure the accurate completion of company paperwork, including job cards, production tracking sheets and QHSE documentation.
  • Ensure schedule adherence.
  • Respond to other Ad-Hoc requests made by higher Management as and when required.

Qualifications and skills required as a Workshop Plant Technician:

  • Proven experience of repair & maintenance on Military vehicles or similar equipment. 
  • Engine & transmission strip & build experience would be advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel) or willing to work towards.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task, and work under pressure.
  • Displays willingness to follow instruction and learn new tasks.
  • Knowledge of QHSE Legislation 
  • Hold a valid driving licence.
  • Displays a good attitude towards work, and the aims and objectives of the company.
