Transaid chosen as charity of choice for gap three peaks challenge

With little over two months until the gap personnel team take on the Three Peaks Challenge for the second time, Transaid has been chosen as the charity of choice with a target of £5,000 to raise.

Over the weekend of July 11-12, a nine-strong team of gap personnel staff will take on the famed three peaks challenge of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. The team comprises of Mark Roberts, Rob Webb, Liz Atkinson, Richard Thorne, Laura Daly, Ross Sullivan, Gary Richards, Lyndsey Hampson and Antony Wheeler.

The last time gap took on the three peaks challenge in 2013, the time was cut particularly fine (with the blame pointed at transport issues!), so this time, the team are looking to complete the challenge with a little more time to spare.

While the gap personnel group support many local charities within our communities on an on-going basis, but this year we have chosen an international charity as our chosen cause. Transport is essential, not only to our business, and those of so many of our valued clients, but for life itself. The reality for many people across Africa and the developing world is that access to transport is poor, inadequate or even unavailable, an issue particularly concerning in relation to healthcare, road safety and livelihoods.

Transaid is an international UK development charity that aims to reduce poverty and improve livelihoods across Africa and the developing world through creating better transport. Projects focus on access to health and community run transport, transport management and professional driver training.
