gap payroll team lands prestigious accreditation from national body

gap personnel group has become one of the first UK recruitment sector businesses to achieve a prestigious accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP).

The two-year accreditation acknowledges the professionalism and expertise of gap’s experienced and long-serving payroll department, which not only supports the group’s core operations, but also provides outsourced payroll solutions to a number of businesses.

Holding this respected standard also supports gap’s strategy to increase the provision of its outsourcing services to more companies across the recruitment market.

Delivered by a team of six based at its head office in Wrexham, gap’s payroll services manage payments to around 9,000 staff every week across 10 companies and divisions.

CIPP is the chartered institute for payroll, pensions and reward professionals in the UK, with more than 10,000 individuals benefiting from membership of the organisation and its education services.

The body offers businesses the opportunity to accredit their operations through its Payroll Assurance Scheme, which involves companies providing a detailed, 140-page submission and provides assurance that their processes are fit for purpose and are able to effectively manage legislative changes.

Achieving the accreditation is part of gap’s award-winning Management Development Programme, which is recognised by the Chartered Management Institute, and is designed to support the career and skills development of the group’s workforce.

Payroll Supervisor Kieron Shone took responsibility for the accreditation, as part of his Personal Management Development Plan, working closely with Payroll Manager, Charlotte Owens.

Charlotte said: “We are incredibly proud to achieve this accreditation, which endorses the hard work and dedication of the payroll department. We have established an excellent, long-serving team, the majority of which have been with gap for more than 10 years, which effectively delivers a high volume of payroll services on a weekly basis.

“With the administration of payroll and pensions becoming increasingly complex, the CIPP accreditation is testament to the robust and effective systems and processes we have in place to not only support gap staff, but also the requirements of other companies through our outsourced solutions.”
