Your Role

As a Load Safety Checker, you will play an important role in maintaining the safe and compliant movement of goods by monitoring and enforcing load safety and load restraint standards for visiting LGV road hauliers. Working as part of a dedicated customer service and operations team, you will carry out trailer safety inspections, support drivers while on site, and help ensure consistently high standards of health and safety compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities

·         Meet and greet incoming LGV haulier drivers, conduct site inductions and safety briefings

·         Monitor and enforce Customer Load Safe and Load Restraint standards

·         Supervise and control haulier drivers while on site, ensuring compliance with site safety procedures

·         Carry out safety inspections of trailers prior to loading/unloading

·         Assist LGV drivers in preparing trailers for loading

·         Prior to loads leaving site, ensure loads are correctly configured and inspect restraint equipment

·         Complete reports regarding non-conformance and safety issues, escalating concerns where appropriate

 

Your Profile

·         CCNSG Safety Passport qualification would be desirable

·         Full clean driving licence (essential)

·         Knowledge of H&S requirements and good practices in the road haulage industry, including an awareness of HSE legislative regulations, would be desirable

·         Knowledge of dispatch operations, LGV driver procedures and types of trailers

·         Good communication skills

·         Flexible proactive approach to the role and ability to work independently with minimal supervision

·         Good organisational skills including the ability to keep calm at peak operational times

·         Basic IT proficiency

·         Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
