£13.39 per hour plus £10.00 shift allowance

Hours

40 hours per week, with opportunities for overtime during weekdays and weekends.

  • Week 1: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm
  • Week 2: Monday to Friday, 2:00pm – 10:00pm

Site Manager and/or Supervisors

Job Purpose

As a Yard / Plant Operative, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the site, ensuring materials are processed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with company procedures. Responsibilities include recycling sorting, site housekeeping, machinery inspections, stock management, and supporting the effective running of the site.

Where appropriately licensed, Yard / Plant Operatives will also operate plant machinery, including Forklift Trucks and other mobile plant equipment, to load and unload containers, manage stock movements, and support site operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Load and unload containers and curtain-sided vehicles using a Forklift Truck.
  • Remove non-conforming materials from incoming loads.
  • Complete daily machinery and equipment inspections, ensuring all plant is maintained in a safe and operational condition.
  • Accurately complete daily plant check sheets and plant books.
  • Conduct regular inspections of work areas and report any defects, hazards, or operational issues.
  • Rotate stock and materials around the site to support efficient operations.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness across the yard and operational areas.
  • Adhere to all company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures and policies.
  • Liaise closely with the Weighbridge Operator to understand daily inbound and outbound material movements and site stock levels.
  • Assist with general site duties and undertake any other reasonable tasks as directed by management.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Ability to work safely in a busy industrial or recycling environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexible approach to work and shift patterns.
  • Ability to follow procedures and health and safety requirements.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working within a recycling, waste management, manufacturing, logistics, or yard environment.
  • Experience operating mobile plant equipment.

Qualifications and Licences

  • NPORS, CPCS, RTITB, or equivalent licence to operate relevant mobile plant machinery.
  • Banksman qualification desirable.
  • Forklift Truck licence preferred.
  • Additional plant operator licences (e.g., Loading Shovel, 360 Excavator, Bobcat) advantageous.
