We’re recruiting general operators for our leading meat processors with pork processing plants across the country in Cookstown, Northern Ireland.

Job title: General Operative.

Salary: £11.60 per hour £17.40 per hour – over time

Contract type: Temporary to permanent.

Location: Cookstown, Northern Ireland.

Job description: You will have a key part to play in the production of the finished pork product, by having specific responsibilities for either kill/cut, butchering, packaging, labelling, checking. Operation of machinery used in the butchery process (knives / saws / electric trimmers) – Training Provided. Hanging Legs/ Shoulders to Trees Packing Product to Containers (Vac Pac Machine, Trays, Dolavs, Jumbo Boxes) Checking the product against specifications (size, weight, color, packaging etc). Identifying errors/faults and reporting these to the Team Leader Ensuring hygiene and cleanliness procedures are always followed. Competently performing any other tasks for which training has been completed and signed off. Being always an ambassador for the business, behaving in a professional and courteous manner with both internal / external customers. Strict adherence to Health & Safety rules and procedures. It is every employee’s duty, no matter what their position within the Company, to assist the employer with its responsibilities towards Health and Safety. General Service Work – Operating Pallet Pump Truck Cutting and trimming meat against strict specifications at designated line speeds – Training Provided / Addition payment depending on the role & client request for upskilling.

 Ideal skills and experience: Attention to detail/good observational skills to spot faults/contamination. Ability to work quickly to meet production targets. Good team working skills and the ability to work on own. Ability to follow strict health & safety guidelines and quality procedures. Patience to carry out repetitive tasks. Self-motivation. Ability to be flexible and adapt to change as required.

Hours of work: Butchery Packing 07:15-17:45 - 4 days a week. Pork Packing 05:45-14:45 – Monday to Friday. Joints 07:00-15:30 – Monday to Friday. Injections 07:00-15:30 – Monday to Friday. Middles (Unskilled) 05:45 – 14:45 – Monday to Friday. OT after 42.5hrs

Break entitlement: 1x30 minute unpaid break and 1x15 minute break paid.

Benefits: Free onsite parking. Onsite canteen with subsidized hot and cold food.

Transport required: Own transport is required for this lite due to location. Public transport is not available in this location.
