Production Operator

About the Role
Gap Personnel is recruiting for motivated and reliable Production Operators to join our client based in Barnsley. In this role, you will be responsible for operating production machinery, ensuring quality standards are met, and contributing to a safe and efficient workplace.

Shift Pattern & Pay

• Continental shifts:  2 days/  2 nights 

• 06:00 – 18:00 and 18:00 – 06:00 (4 on / 4 off)

• Pay rate: £13.07 per hour basic + £1.31 shift allowance

• Annual salary: £31,498.20

Key Responsibilities

• Operate production machinery in line with customer demand and specifications.

• Meet agreed production and quality targets.

• Communicate effectively with colleagues, particularly at shift changeovers.

• Ensure all equipment is operated safely and in compliance with procedures.

• Carry out machine adjustments and basic maintenance where required.

• Monitor product quality and ensure it meets specification.

• Record production information accurately and report issues promptly.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives.

• Assist with housekeeping and maintaining a safe working environment.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience in operating machines in a high-volume production environment would be desirable.

• Must be numerate and literate, with good communication skills.

• Must be a team player, with a can-do attitude but equally able to work on his/her own.

• Must be flexible and adaptable and capable of working shifts.

• Previous experience of 5S, TPM, visual management and other lean systems.
