Export & Compliance Officer

Competitive salary dependent on experience

Monday – Friday / General Office Hours

Wrexham

 

Our client based in the Wrexham area is currently recruiting an Export & Compliance Officer to join their team on a permanent basis. The Export Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring all export activities are completed in accordance with UK export regulations, customs legislation, ITAR requirements, customer requirements, and Company procedures. The role supports the smooth movement of goods internationally while maintaining compliance across documentation, licensing, and shipping activities.

 

Performance Objectives

·        Ensure compliance with UK export control regulations and international trade requirements.

·        Prepare and review export documentation including:

o   Commercial invoices

o   Packing lists

o   Certificates of origin

o   Shipping documentation

o   Export declarations

·        Support export licensing requirements and maintain associated records.

·        Ensure commodity codes and customs information are accurate and maintained.

·        Liaise with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transport providers.

·        Conduct sanctions and denied party screening checks where required.

·        Maintain accurate export and compliance records in line with Company and regulatory requirements.

·        Support internal and external compliance audits.

·        Assist with investigations, corrective actions, and process improvements relating to export and trade compliance.

·        Monitor changes in export legislation and communicate relevant updates internally.

·        Work collaboratively with Operations, Sales, Procurement, and Quality teams to support customer requirements and on-time delivery.

·        Provide administrative and reporting support relating to export compliance activities.

·        Promote continuous improvement within export and logistics processes.

·        Ensure compliance with ITAR and other controlled goods/export control regulations.

·        Support management of controlled data, products, and documentation in line with Company and customer requirements.

·        Assist with customer and regulatory compliance audits relating to controlled programmes and exports.

·        Ensure that you always adhere to safe working practices and wider Company Health and Safety policies

·        Report any hazards, near misses or accidents immediately to the appropriate person in accordance with Company procedures.

 

Person Specification

·        Strong organisational and administrative skills.

·        Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

·        Good communication and interpersonal skills.

·        Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks.

·        Competent with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

·        Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

·        Professional and confidential approach to work.

·        High level of integrity and understanding of confidential or controlled information handling.

·        Previous experience working within an export, logistics, shipping, or compliance role.

·        Experience handling export documentation and international shipments.

·        Good understanding of UK export regulations, customs procedures, and controlled goods requirements.

·        Experience working within a manufacturing/engineering regulated industrial environment.

·        Understanding of ITAR compliance requirements and export-controlled environments.

·        Experience liaising with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and external suppliers.

·        Knowledge of export licensing requirements.

·        Experience using ERP or customs software systems.

·        Knowledge of ITAR / controlled goods requirements.
