Job Title: Manufacturing Operator
Location: Sowton Industrial Estate, Exeter, EX2
Contract: Temporary Ongoing
Shifts:
- 2 Shift: 6am – 2pm / 2pm – 10pm
- 3 Shift: 6am – 2pm / 2pm – 10pm / 10pm – 6am
- Nights: 10pm – 6am
Pay Rate: £13.49 + premium shift allowance
gap personnel are currently recruiting multiple Manufacturing Operators for Howmet Aerospace, a global leader in high-performance engineered solutions, located at Sowton Industrial Estate, Exeter, EX2.
At Howmet, you will join a team of innovators and makers, transforming the future of flying and driving. The site produces quieter, more fuel-efficient engines for airplanes and gas turbines, as well as market-leading aluminium wheels for trucks.
Role Overview:
You will play a key role in both operations and the supply chain for aerospace and gas industries. The site is focused on Quality & Safety, and your work will directly support this mission.
Main Responsibilities:
- Polish, deburr, and clean precision components using hand tools and machines
- Inspect final products to ensure they meet strict quality standards
- Check components against customer specifications and internal criteria
- Maintain a clean, safe workspace in line with EH&S practices
- Work collaboratively within a flexible, multi-skilled team
- Prepare components for final dispatch, ensuring top-tier presentation
- Perform fine finishing and detailing of wax components with precision
- Handle delicate parts carefully to preserve pattern integrity
- Follow technical drawings and instructions accurately
- Conduct quality control inspections and flag defects or inconsistencies
- Set, load, and prepare components for downstream processes
- Support other tasks as needed to maintain smooth production flow

- Strong eye for detail and pride in precision work
- Some experience with surface finishing or polishing tools is beneficial (full training provided)
- Ability to follow technical instructions and meet exact standards
- Proactive, hands-on approach to work and problem-solving
- Reliable, adaptable team player who is eager to learn

Additional Information:
