Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development Trainee Assessor
Salary: £25,709
Location: Cardiff (Head Office)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 16:30
Overview
A training provider is seeking a Trainee Assessor to support apprenticeship learners in Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development. This role is ideal for individuals with relevant sector experience who are looking to progress into a full assessor position while contributing to learners’ professional development.
The role involves providing structured support, guiding learners through their programme, and helping them achieve both practical and theoretical outcomes in the childcare sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, knowledge and competency-based support to learners, maintaining high standards
- Manage a regional caseload, including workplace visits to conduct assessments and progress reviews
- Support learners throughout their programme through effective planning, regular feedback, and constructive guidance
- Conduct monthly progress reviews and agree measurable targets with learners and employers
- Develop and maintain Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) to track learner progress and ensure appropriate support
- Ensure the learner journey is accurately documented, regularly updated, and aligned with qualification requirements
- Maintain compliance with internal quality assurance systems and awarding body standards
Requirements
Essential:
- Proven occupational experience and technical competence in Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development
- Level 4 & 5 NVQ/QCF in Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Willingness to undergo a DBS check (cost covered) and register with the relevant regulatory body
Desirable:
- Relevant teaching or assessing qualification (e.g., A1 Assessor Award, TAQA, CAVA, or equivalent)
- Welsh language skills
