About the Role
Vale of Glamorgan Council is seeking a skilled and motivated Painter to join their established maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a fully qualified painter with experience in both internal and external painting to help maintain and improve Council housing and properties across the Vale of Glamorgan.
The successful candidate will carry out a wide range of painting and decorating duties to a high standard while delivering excellent customer service to our tenants. You will work as part of a busy and supportive team, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely, and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out internal and external painting and decorating works to Council properties.
- Prepare surfaces and apply paints, varnishes and other finishes to a high standard.
- Work efficiently to meet agreed timescales while maintaining quality workmanship.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant health and safety regulations.
- Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Provide a courteous and professional service, treating tenants with respect and consideration at all times.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and other trades to deliver an effective maintenance service.
Essential Requirements
- Fully qualified Painter and Decorator (or equivalent recognised qualification).
- Proven experience in both internal and external painting and decorating.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a successful team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Respectful and considerate approach when working in occupied properties.
Desirable Requirements
- Good knowledge of the Vale of Glamorgan area.
- Previous experience working within social housing, local authority maintenance, or a similar environment.
