CNC Operative / Programmer

Location: Heathfield – Newton Abbot
Salary: £13.25 - £14.00
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

An established manufacturing business is looking for an experienced CNC Operative / Programmer to join its team. This is a hands-on role involving the programming, setting and operation of CNC wood-routing machinery to produce high-quality products accurately and efficiently.

This would suit someone with strong CNC machining knowledge, excellent attention to detail and the confidence to solve problems and improve manufacturing processes.

The role

  • Programming, setting and operating CNC wood routers
  • Producing new products and completing varied machining work
  • Changing tooling and adjusting machine controls when required
  • Completing first-piece inspections and quality checks
  • Using precision measuring equipment to identify faults or out-of-tolerance work
  • Monitoring work in progress and making prompt adjustments
  • Editing CNC programs to improve efficiency and machine performance
  • Ensuring machines run reliably and achieve production targets
  • Maintaining accurate production and inspection records
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Working safely and following all quality procedures

What we’re looking for

  • At least two years’ experience in a similar CNC role
  • Practical knowledge of CNC wood routers
  • Experience programming, setting and operating CNC machinery
  • Good knowledge of tooling, equipment, and manufacturing materials
  • Confidence using precision measuring instruments
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A disciplined and quality-focused approach
  • Ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines
  • A friendly, approachable attitude and willingness to support the wider team
