Job Title: CNC Lathe Setter Programmer
Location: Crewkerne, Somerset
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £12.38 – £16.00 per hour
Hours: 39 hours per week (Day Shift – early Friday finish!)
Bonus: Quarterly performance bonus

Are you a CNC professional who thrives on precision and craftsmanship — not mass production?

We’re working with a long-established engineering business based in Crewkerne, Somerset, with over a century of expertise behind them. They produce high-spec, one-off and low-volume components for leading global brands, and they’re now looking for a CNC Lathe Setter/Programmer to join their skilled Machine Shop team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who values the art of machining — producing unique, technically challenging parts in a hot, loud, but highly skilled environment. You won’t find conveyor belts or repetitive runs here — just craftsmanship, pride, and precision.

The Role:

  • Set and operate CNC lathes (2, 3 & 4 axis), milling machines, and drills
  • Program machines using Fanuc or similar controls
  • Read and interpret detailed technical drawings and setup sheets
  • Work to tight tolerances on small-batch and one-off custom parts
  • Measure and inspect your work to ensure the highest quality
  • Tackle problems head-on and collaborate with experienced colleagues

What We're Looking For:

  • Ideally 3+ years’ experience in CNC turning
  • Comfortable with Fanuc controls (or similar)
  • High attention to detail — quality always comes first
  • Ability to read and work from complex engineering drawings
  • Physically fit and able to work in a hot, noisy workshop
  • A hands-on team player who takes pride in their work

What’s in It for You:

  • Competitive pay: £12.38 – £16.00 per hour, based on experience
  • Quarterly bonus scheme
  • Day shifts with early finish on Fridays
  • On-the-job training and support from a skilled team
  • Work on interesting, one-of-a-kind parts for global customers
  • Be part of a company with a long history and strong future

Please Note: You must have the right to work in the UK to apply for this position.
