Craft Painter – Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth

Pay: £16.44 per hour
Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday–Friday)

gap personnel Exeter is recruiting for a Craft Painter to join a leading engineering services company based in Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with industrial or marine painting experience to work in a high-profile, safety-critical environment supporting defence, security, and nuclear sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare bare substrates and existing coatings using systematic methods
• Apply marine coatings via brush, roller, conventional spray, and airless spray
• Read and follow paint manufacturer’s Technical and Safety Data Sheets
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas
• Apply Damage Control markings and raised tallies
• Support and guide team members when required
• Follow MoD documentation and quality standards
• Work shift patterns and overtime as required

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a marine, industrial, or commercial painting role
• NVQ Level 3 in Industrial/Marine Painting & Decorating, or NVQ Level 2 with willingness to train further
• ICATS certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience working in marine environments (submarines, warships) desirable
• Experience with airless spraying and sign writing is beneficial
• Ability to read and understand MoD BR documents
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH regulations
• Good teamwork and communication skills

What We Offer:

• £16.44 per hour, paid weekly
• Monday to Thursday: 07:30 – 15:30
• Friday: 07:30 – 12:30
