Location: Wheatley, Oxfordshire

Salary: £32,000 to £35,000 per annum

 

The Role

gap personnel are recruiting on behalf of a well-established plant hire company based in Wheatley, looking for a reliable and customer-focused Pickup & Delivery Driver / Hire Desk Assistant.

This is a varied, hands-on role combining driving duties with customer service and branch support. You’ll be out on the road delivering and collecting equipment, as well as assisting on the hire desk during quieter periods.

 

Key Responsibilities

Driving Duties:

• Deliver and collect plant hire equipment across Oxfordshire and surrounding areas
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and ensure safe loading/unloading
• Represent the business professionally on customer sites
• Handle missed deliveries and urgent collections efficiently

Hire Desk / Branch Support:

• Serve customers at the trade counter and over the phone
• Process hire orders, returns, and general enquiries
• Provide basic advice on equipment (training provided if needed)
• Support day-to-day branch operations
• Maintain high standards of customer service

Requirements

• Full UK driving licence (essential)
• Experience in a delivery driver, van driver, or similar role
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
• Basic IT skills
• Plant hire/tool hire experience is an advantage but not essential
